A study on the incorporation of sugarcane trash on the nodulation and yield of gram

Field experiment to study the effects of direct incorporation of sugarcane trash on nodulation and yield of gram (Cv. G-1), was conducted for three successive years (1982-1985). The trash was applied at 0, 2.5 and 5.0 tonnes/ha a month before sowing, coupled with 0, 12.5 and 25.0 kg N/ha. The 2.5 and 5.0 tonnes trash/ha gave 9 to 13 and 9 to 22% more nodulation and nodule weight than no trash. Further 2.5 and 5.0 tonnes trash/ha produced 12 to 15 and 2 to 9% more grain and dry matter yield, respectively over the control
