Suryawanshi, S.B. | Maiti, S.K. | Singh, G.R. (Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar (India))
The study was undertaken to compare single and cross intramedullary pinning techniques with interfragmentary wiring for the fixation of proximal tibial metaphy seal fractures in dogs. The fracture healing was evaluated based on gross, photographic enlargement and oxytetracycline fluorochrome studies after euthanasia on day 60 post fixation. It is concluded that cross intramedullary pinning with interfragmentary wiring was the best technique which provided rigid fixation and early fracture healing, whereas, single pinning provided delayed/non-union.
