Multiple shoots were induced within 10 days, in 100% cotyledonary node explants of in vitro growth seedlings of Punica granatum L., on B5 medium supplemented with 0.05 mg I-1 NAA + 1 mg I-1 kinetin + 1 mg I-1 benzyl adenine in cv. Ganesh and 0.05 mg I-1 NAA + 0.5 mg I-1 BA in cv. Kabul. The multiplication factor was 7-9 per subculture per month. Shoots of both the cv. were elongated on B5 medium supplemented with 0.05 mg I-1 NAA + 0.5 mg I-1 BA + 10% coconut milk. 45 days old shoots were rooted on B5 medium containing 3 mg I-1 IAA for 2 months. Plantlets were hardened in net house having 14000-17000 lux light, at temperature below 30ø and RH 80% for 2 months. All plants survived during acclimatization and flowered within 16 months after transfer to field.
