Evaluation of certain eco-friendly insecticides against lepidopterous pests of cabbage

Bacillus thuringiensis var. Kurstaki formulations viz., Dipel, Delfin, Biobit, Biolep, Bioasp, botanical insecticide Neemgold, nematode formulation (Steinernema feltiae) Green commandos and endosulfan were evaluated against the lepidopterous pests of cabbage under field conditions. Delfin was very effective in reducing the populations of cabbage leaf webber Crocidolomia binotalis Zell. (64.69%) and diamond back moth Plutella xylostella L. (55.40%). Dipel was equally effective against these pests and recorded 64.54% and 54.38% reduction respectively. Endosulfan proved to be effective against tobacco catgerpillar Spodoptera litura Fab. which recorded 53.42% reduction. All the test insecticides were found to be safe and did not show any adverse effect on coccinellid population under field conditions.
