Pot culture experiments were conducted to study the effect of different sources of sulphur (Elemental sulphur, gypsum and pyrites) applied to sunflower on soil available N, P, K, S and sulphatase activity in Alfisols and Vertisols. The availability of these nutrients and sulphatase activity significantly increased with the application of different sources of sulphur over control and followed the trend of gypsum pyrites elemental sulphur control in both soils. Available phosphorus and sulphur differed in the soils collected from the rhizospheres of cultivars and recorded significantly higher with Gangakalyani 2002 than 6460 PH-1. However, the difference in available nitrogen, potassium and sulhatase activity was non-significant.
