This is the first report on the anthelmintic activity of the flowers of T. patula on H. contortus . The aqueous, chloroform and petroleum ether extracts did not exhibit anthelmintic activity. Themethanolic extract of the flowers was found to exhibit promising anthelmintic activity at all the three concentrations investigated. The in vitro efficacy of its methanolic extract can be further substantiated by conducing in vivo trials. Isolation and purification of the bioactive constituent(s) of the methanolic extract would provide a lead in the development of herbal therapy for combating haemonchosis in goats and sheep.
