Factors influencing sericultural productivity - an analysis in traditional areas of West Bengal

Sericulture is one of the important agro based industry from Which rural people earn their livelihood. The marginal farmers dominate the sericulture farming community. In spite of adoption of several improved sericultural technologies the productivity of mulberry leaf cocoon at farmers level are far lagging behind from its potentiality due to different social, technical, economic, situational and managerial factors. Multiple regression analysis reveals that independent factors like education (X1), irrigation frequency (X13), doze of nitrogen (X16), dose of phosphorus (X17) showed dominant influence on mulberry leaf productivity and independent factors like cosmopoiiteness (X4), spacing of silkworm (X25), method of rearing house disinfection (X26), and leaf productivity (X33) were found to have significant influence on cocoon productivity.
