Pneumonia: An important factor for calf mortality.

Pneumonia is caused by a number of microorganisms resulting into mortality with a loss in productivity of milch animal. The management alone can help in reducing the occurrence of pneumonia. However, early detection of pneumonia and its treatment may save number of calves. The five C's reported by workers may managing the young dairy calf. These inculdes Colostrum. Cleanlines, Comfort, Calories and Consistency. Havoc of pneumonia in calves may be overcome by judicious application of husbandry practices.
