Agro-ecosystem analysis was conducted in eight villages of Tapan block, Dakshin Dinajpur, West Bengal,using Participatory Rural Appraisal tools to explore the fishery resources, occurrence of fish disease, practices in fisheries, choice matrix of fish production and problem cause analysis for low fish productivity. An action plan has been formulated for future strategies such as research, farmers’ training.Key words: Participatory rural appraisal, wealth ranking, problem cause analysis.
