Preliminary report on cage culture of brown spotted grouper Epinephelus

unknown. Growth performance of the brown spotted grouperEpinephelus tauvina (Forsskal) was evaluated under cage culture inbrackishwater ecosystem. Juveniles of grouper were stocked in a stationary net cage @ 6 nos./m2 having an initial mean totallength of 143 mm and mean body weight of 43.6 g. After seven months culture period, fish attained mean total length andmean body weight of 365 mm and 618 g respectively. The fish gained total length increment of 222 mm and body weight of575.4 g with daily average length and average weight increments of 1.06 mm and 2.73 g respectively. The growth raterecorded in this study showed promising results for large scale farming of this species in cages.
