BLOOD CHARACTERISTICS AND FATTY ACIDS IN LIVER OF RED SEA BREAM FED ON FERMENTED AND NONFERMENTED SCRAP MEALS

Haematological characteristics, chemical components and enzyme activities in blood plasma of red seabream, Chrysophrys major reared for 10 weeks on fermented scrap fish meal with (FLN) or without (FFM)additive lactic acid and NaCl supplements diets were compared with those of the nonfermented scrapfish meal (NFM) and white fish meal diet (WFM) groups. In addition, the condition factor, percentageof organ weight to body weight; proximate and fatty acid compositions of liver of reared fish were alsodetermined. Significant differences were observed in most of the investigated parameters in betweenthe NFM and WFM groups. On the otherhand, no significant differences were observed in between WFMand FFM and FLN groups. Furthermore, the fish fed on NFM diet had a macrocytotic hyperchromeniaand a slight liver malfunction
