Twenty sunflower cultivars, Armaverec, Predowik, Zaria, Progres, Mehr, Gabor, Cernianka, Vnimk 8931, Armaversky, Luc, Shafag, Record, R-28, R-43, R-46, N.S.P.-317, CMS15xR-28, CMS15xR-46, CMS24xR-46, CMS31xR-28 were tested in a complete randomized blocks design with four replications in Moghan in 1994, to evaluate their tolerance under natural infection of Puccinia helianthi. The first rust symptom was observed at phenologic growth stages 4 and 5. percentage of infected plants and disease severity ( leaf area infected) were scored for each cultivar. Yield and oil percentage of seeds in each cultivar were also measured at harvesting time. According to the results, cultivars R-43 and Gabor were tolerant to the rust, and due to the early appearance of rust on the experimental cultivars in 1994, yield and oil perecentage of seeds, showed 3-4 decrease compared with those of 1993
