Cabbage is one of the important vegetable due to it,s general consumption, available during all of the year and high nutrition value. Autumn culturing of cabbage be accepted by farmers in Mazandaran. In order to determine planting date and suitable planting pattern, the experiment was conducted in a split- plot factorial design with three replications for two years (2005-2006) at Dashtenaz Agricultural Research Station that is 30 Km far from Sari. The main plots (A) were cabbage varieties (a1: N.S cross and a2: Green corner) and sub plots as factorials (BC) were included planting dates of seedling (B) at three levels b1: 6 Sep., 27 Sep. and 17 Oct. and planting pattern at three levels c1=50cm ,c2= 60cm and c3 19 = 70cm with 50cm distance between seedling in row . The necessary agronomical works had done the same for all of treatments. Analysis of variance showed non- significant differences of years for yield and middle of head weight but it was significant at %1 probability level for number of bushes and leaves at harvesting stage. Significant mean squares of varieties, planting dates and varieties x planting dates interactions were observed for all of the traits including yield in hectare, average of head weight number of at the harvesting stage and number of leaves around of head. Significant row distance effect was observed for yield and interaction of planting date × row distance was significant for yield, average of head weight and number of bushes at harvesting stage. Triple interaction effects of variety × planting date × row distance was significant at %5 probability According to mean comparison the treatment a2 ( Green corner), density ,planting date b1: 6 Sep. and planting pattern 50 × 50 had the highest yield with 40000 plants per hectare and due to average head diameter had suitable marketability.
