Possibility of enhancing glyphosate efficacy via modifying hard water carrier nature in control of camel thorn
2011
Bazoobandi, Mohmmad, Khorasan Razavi Agricultural and Natural Resources Research Center
The present study was conducted to investigate enhancement effects of commercial additives including X-change and ammonium sulphate on efficacy of two formulation of glyphosate (SC and Sl) at different level of water hardiness on camel thorn control at Abasabad landscape Research Station (Mashhad) during 2009-2010. Three doses of Xchange i.e. 0.001, 0.0025 and 0.005 and three doses of ammonium sulphate i.e. 0, 3 and 4% in mix with three dose of glyphosate i.e. 4, 6 and 8 L.ha-1 at three level of water hardiness including 1.5, 3 and 6 ds.m-1 were applied during early May to camel thorn plants. to conduct this study, Four experiments were laid out in a completely randomized design at an infested farm. Results revealed that although Xchange could not affect glyphosate efficacy at non hard water but made significant difference at higher level of water hardiness. Xchange could make a significant reduction in glyphosate consumption according to estimated ED50s. weedmaster and its mix with applied additives were more efficient compared to roundup. It may be due to its built-in additives
