Secretion of endo-xylanase and intracellular biosynthesis of (beta- xylosidase by rifampin resistant mutant of Cellulomonas biazotea from xylan, carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) or lignocellulosic (LC) substrates in shake flask culture studies followed logistic cum Luedeking- Piret equations. Values of growth (alpha, IU/g cells) and non-growth associated (beta, IU/g cells h) product parameters were fairly high which implied that the enzyme production was both growth as well as non- growth associated. In both cases, enzyme production was significantly (p less than or equal to 0.05) altered in the mutant. Both enzyme production modes were regulated by substrate consumption parameters and changed on the expense of each other.
