Notes on saw-scale viper Echis carinatus and its status in Pakistan
2002
Khan, M.S.
A collection of wide ranging Pakistani saw-scale viper Echis carinatus from different parts of Pakistan was morphologically studied. The data strongly suggests that the saw- scale viper exist in a single species in Pakistan. However, morphological variations do indicate partition of its Pakistan population in three distinct races: islandic E. c. astolae, Cherlins (1981) E. c. multisquamatus is a northwestern race, while E. c. sochureki is widely distributed in the whole of Indus Valley and extends westwards into Gangetic Valley.
