The present study was aimed to find out the high yielding and early growing character mother bushes in a minimum period for commercial plantation and the success of tea plantation in prospective tea growing areas of NWFP. Results showed that Ruopi variety gave higher number of roots of 15/plants with dry weight i.e., 0.9 mg/plant followed by Chuye (Figure 5) which gave 8.26/plant with 0.29 mg dry wt/plant (Hamid et al., 1991). The other Chinese varieties gave poor results in root formation.
