Present studies were carried out in the district Dera Ismail Khan, NWFP, to see the effectiveness of protein hydrolysate for the suppression of fruit flies in guava orchards. Four guava orchard of more-or-less same ecosystem and age were selected. Spray solution (100 ml of protein hydrolysate + 12g fenitrothion (Diptrex 80SP) as toxicant + 101 of water) was sprayed on each forth tree in first, each sixth tree in second, each eighth tree in third orchard and fourth orchard was left un-sprayed check. It was found that the pest infestation decreased as the distance between sprayed plant increased. The reason might be that the flies confuse when food attractant sprayed at a shorter distance and can not recognize the treated plant efficiently.
