Bio-disposition of moxifloxacin in female volunteers following oral administration
2002
Tabassum, A.
Biodisposition of moxiflxoacin was determined in female volunteers following oral administration of 400 mg tablet. The blood samples were collected at specific time intervals. The moxifloxacin concentration was determined by microbiological assay by using the well agar diffusion. technique, The plasma concentration of moxifloxacin at different time intervals from 0.5 to 48 hours after oral administration was determined. The results of pharmacokinetics are expressed after performing two compartment model kinetic analysis. The maximum plasma concentration (C max) obtained is 7.35 plus- minus 0.51 mg/L and the time require to obtain maximum concentration in plasma (T max) is 2.02 plus-minus 0.37 hours. The mean plus-minus SE value of area under curve (AUC) and clearance (Cl) were 76.5 plus-minus 9,96 h.mg/L and 6.31 plus-minus 0.79 1/h respectively. The Mean plus-minus SE absorption rate constant (Ka) volume of distribution (Vd) elimination half life (HL) and mean residence time were 1.94 plus-minus 0.74 h-1, 95.87 plus-minus 32.44 L, 10.82 plus-minus 3.78h and 11.49 plus-minus 1.43 h respectively. The value of the parameter like T max, t I/2, HL, Ka, Vd were comparable with foreign values while values of C max and AUC were higher but value of CI was low in local population as compared with foreign values.
