Azaron or 1, 2, 4-trimethoxy-5-(1-propenyl) Benzene, isolated formthe rhizome extract of Acorus calamus was screened for antifungalactivity against three phytopathogenic fungi viz., Macrophominaphaseolina (Maubl) Ash by, Curvularia lunata Wakker Boedijn andAlternaria alternata (Fr.) Kedissler. This compound completelyinhibited the growth (100%) of all the rested fungi at 400 mug mL-1.
