This study was carried out to determine the yield, yieldcomponents and the quality characters of two cotton cultivars Ogosta644 and Sayar 314 and their generations of F1, F2, BC1P1, BC1P2obtained by crossing them in the years between 1996-1998 inDiyarbakir. In the study, the number of boll per plant, seed cottonweight of per boll, seed cotton yield, plant height, rate of firstpicking, ginning turnout, 100 seed weight, fibre fineness, fibre lengthand fibre strength were determined and heterosis, heritability, F2depression, F2 deviation were estimated. As a result, it wasdetermined that seed cotton weight of per boll, 100 seed weight, fibrefineness and fibre strength had high heritability degrees, the numberof bolls per plant had lower heritability degrees, while the othercharacters had moderately heritability degrees. The characters whichwere high heritability degrees have been suggested some possibilitiesin obtaining required genotypes by selection in early generations (F2,F3); delayed selection which had low heritability stronglyrecommended for some characteristics.
