The current study was started from February to November 2000 to investigatethe seasonal variations in the biological parameters and bio-diversity in mixed waterof river Ravi and Chenab at Bakarpur (Kabirwala) by analyzing the relativeabundance and diversity index of planktonic life. Phytoplankton was most abundantas compared to zooplankton. Number of genra of Cyanophyta were 18, Chlorophyta58, Euglenopyta 6, Pyrrhophyta 4, Chrysophyta 34, Phaeophyta 7, Rhodophyta 5,Protozoa 39, Rotifers 9 and Cladocerans were only 3. Relative abundance ofphytoplankton in all samples was 96.37% and zooplankton was 3.63%. Relativeabundance (R.A. %) of Cyanophyta was 15.94%, Chlorophyta 15.7%, Euglenophyta0.27%, Pyrrhophyta 0.14%, Chrysophyta 63.85%, Phaeophyta 0.28%, Rhodophyta, 0.14%,Protozoa 3.29%, Rotifera 0.28% and Cladocera 0.054%. Diversity index of phytoplanktonwas ma mum (12.52) in September and minimum was zero in July. Amongphytoplankton, chrysophyta remained dominant as compared to all other phyla.Among zooplankton, protozoa remained dominant as compared to others (Rotifers andCladocerans).
