Eighteen (18) phenotypically different Shisham trees were identified throughout the Punjab province which were tested for resistance to dieback disease caused by Botryodiplodia theobromae. Three entries were found resistant. Rest of the entries were moderately resistant and susceptible or highly susceptible reaction. Nurseries from seed from plus trees of Shisham were evaluated for resistance of dieback. Experiments on chemical control of Shisham Dieback were conducted in Shisham Plantations and farmers' fields. Topsin-M, Score and Derosal hav been found effective in order of affectivity for control of dieback. The fungicides controlled the disease when the incidence of dieback was up to 25%.
