F1 generation of 6x6 diallel cross of maize (Zea mays) was evaluated for combining ability effects under normal and high temperature conditions in the Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, University of Agriculture Faisalabad during 2005-06. The mean squares due to genotypes, GCA/ SCA and reciprocal effects were found as highly significant except non-significant to GCA effect for 100-grain weight under high temperature condition. The GCA/ SCA variance ratio exhibited that all traits were predominantly under non-additive control. The inbred line 935006 was found as the best general combine with better mean performance for all traits under both temperatures followed by R2304-2 and F 165-2-4. The best cross was cross 935006 x R 2304-2 and its reciprocal followed by F 165-2-4 x R 2304-2, F 165-2-4 x 935006 and R 2205.5-4 x R 2304-2 and their reciprocals. These crosses showed good positive SCA effects along with better mean performance for grain yield per plant and most of the traits under both temperature regimes.
