Study on production and marketing of beef in Quetta district

The survey was conducted on a sample size of 162 respondents, of which 54 were in the category of beef producers, 54 wholesalers/ middlemen and 54 retailers. Considerable number of respondents of all categories had Islamic education from different religious educational institutions (Madrassa) and little was the number of those, who had their education level of college or university level. The trend of getting married is specific and most of the marriages are occurred in the early age and similar was the situation for all the people of different categories involved in the beef business. Average farm had total area of 47160 square feet, while the covered area was 15720 square feet. The average number of animals in all three tehsils of Quetta was 23.33 and the space available per animal was 39 square feet. 68.51% cattle/buffalo farms had kacha structures; while 27.78 percent semi pacca structures and 3.70 percent of 54 had pucca structures.
