International plant protection convention (IPPC)

A history of international agreements concerning plant quarantine was given. At present the international plant quarantine is regulated by three agreements: 1. "International Plant Protection Convention (1951 with amendments in 1979) known as IPPC; 2. "International Convention of Harmonization of Movements of Goods through Borders" with its Annex 4 - "Phytosanitary Inspection"; 3. "General Agreements on Tarifs and Trade" with its "Decision on Applications of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures". The contents of the IPPC with its preambule, 15 articles and 2 annexes was briefly discussed. The author gived also a short information concerning the tasks of IPPC Secretariat established at FAO
