Heavy metals in street dust from Warsaw

The objective of the present paper was to learn the content of heavy metals and organic substances in the street dust deposited in different roadways of Warsaw. The main heavy metals in the street dust are: Pb, Cu, Zn, Cd and Ni. The average index of heavy metals concentration in the street dust, as calculated at the background of non polluted soils can be put in the following descending order: Pb=Cu (8.1), Zn (7.7), Cd (5.3), Ni (3.4), Fe (1.9), Cr (1.5). The highest concentration of heavy metals was found in the district of Ochota, while the lowest in the district of Praga Polnoc
