[Role of education in providing qualitative food service in the establishments of hospitality industry]

Nowadays food service is one of the integral parts of tourism product offered by tourism industry. Alongside with it the demand for qualified catering specialists is growing. In Latvia it is possible to acquire such education at educational establishments of the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Agriculture - professional or vocational schools, vocational grammar schools, colleges. The level of knowledge and skills are different: part of educational establishments provide elementary basic knowledge, but others - work experience and skills in organizing and managing of enterprises. Enterprises, which employ qualified and knowledge specialist, provide up-to-date services and these enterprises are able to have long-term operation in the conditions of ever growing competition.
