The propagation of introduced tree species in the forests of Skede forest district began at the end of the 19th century. The monitoring of growth of red oak stands has been carried out irregularly till now. During the last 10 years the most relevant parameters - mean diameter, height of stands, basal area, and volume of stands - have been researched. The results show that red oak stands in Talsi hill-land on loam moraine soils are productive. The mean diameter of the main storey in 59-67 year-old red oak stands exceeds 29-32 cm. The volume of stands varies between 440 and 585 m3 haE-1. In the stands where the tree number is between 730-1170 trees per hectare, red oak loses its green crown; there is also decrease in the diameter and stagnation of stand volume increment. The stands with a bigger number of trees outweigh other stands of the same age in basal area and stand volume but fall behind in the mean diameter and stem volume.
