Serum AST, ALT, GGT, AP and LDH activities were measured during one year in 30 dromedary camels (5 whole males, 5 castrated males, 5 pregnant females, 5 lactating females, 5 young 8 to 11 month old and 5 young born during the experiment). Serum enzyme activities (in U/l) ranged 76-183 for AST, 7-28 for ALT, 12-34 for GGT 40-462 for AP and 815-3162 for LDH. Season and physiological stage of pregnancy and lactation did not have any significant effect on serum AST, ALT, GGT, AP and LDH activities. Age has a significant effect on serum AP and LDH activities which were higher at birth and decreased progressively up to 2 years. Intact males seem to have higher serum AP activity than females and castrated males. (Résumé d'auteur)
