It is shown that the annual zones on the otoliths of the yellow-striped f lounder Pseudopleuronectes herzensteini on the relief structure of the otolith are similar in shape to a wave. The layered structure of the otolith is formed by rings of the second order (ringlets). Each annual zone contained a specific set of ringlets.The set of ratios of signs of recording structures, body sizes and expert assessments of age was characterized by close relationships, which are determined by joint deterministic growth. Equations for calculating retrospective estimates of length and age are proposed for males, females and their juveniles
