Efecto de la aplicacion de cianamida hidrogenada sobre la floracion y crecimiento vegetativo en ciruelo japones (Prunus salicina Lindl.).
1991
Graell M Thomas Anthony
In Black Beaut and Santa Rosa plums trees three Dormex doses were applied: 1.0, 2.0 and 3% in three times from June 7th to July 18th. Dormancy, budding, pollen germination and fruit set were evaluated; furthermore in Black Beaut variety vegetative growth, soluble solids contents and firmness were also evaluated. Black Beaut trees treated with hydrogen cyanamide broke dormancy earlier than non-treated trees. That did not occur in Santa Rosa variety. In both cases, blooming occurred 5 to 7 days in advance of normal time when the applications were done on June 27 or 28. In both varieties the budding percentages were less with applications of Dormex 3%, independently of date when it was applied. The applications with 3% of Dormex in general, affected negatively the vegetative growth especially those shoots longer than 5 and 15 cm.; the application of Dormex less than 3% in shoots longer than 15 cm. tends to make this effect disappear. Pollen germination was affected negatively only in Santa Rosa trees treated with 2% of Dormex in July 18. Black Beaut did not produce viable pollen, which is normal in this variety. The fruit set in Black Beaut was notably affected in almost all treated trees with Dormex, and this affected the final production. In Santa Rosa variety, that only occurred in those trees treated with Dormex at 2 or 3% on July 18. The contents of soluble solids tested in Black Beaut revealed an advance of approximately 4 days at harvest.
