Different types of containers and covers are compared to observe their effects on the growth of the following seedlings in the nursery: sour orange (Citrus aurantium L.) "Troyer" and "Carrizo" citranges, Volkameriana lemon (C. Volkameriana) and trifoliate orange (Poncirus trifoliata Raf.). The results pointed out that the "fitocella" and the rigid bag increase the growth of the seedlings that reached in a year a good size for grafting, more than the white container. Among the covers the polyethylene film + black net proved to be more efficient because it reduces to a minimum the period of winter rest, induces always an higher growth of the plants raised under this cover. The white and black nets do not statistically influence the growth of the seedlings in comparison to the field raised ones; however the seedlings under nets were always more developed in consequence of the microclimate produced under the nets that act as an obstacle against the more wasteful meteors as the strong winds and the hail, and mitigate the temperature (maximum and minimum).
