According to the 17/1992/VI.17/ decree of the Ministry of Agriculture, a Hungarian vine grower is entitled to get tax allowance if he adheres to certain environmentally friendly technologies /integrated viticulture/. Such operations in agrotechniques are e.g.: to use propagation wood free of viruses; avoid tilling machines destroying the soil structure; to use stable and green manure /and fertilizers only additionally/; to compost /and not to burn/ trimmings. Plant protection must be based on predictions, and biological, mechanical and physical control must be referred to the use of pesticides, the 3 categories of which are: tolerable ones; pesticides that may be used only with limitations; and prohibited ones. Chemical after-treatment after vintage is prohibited as well. Adequate documentation is a prerequisite of being granted tax allowance.
