The impact of pesticides from the carbamate insecticide group on the process of sewage purification using the activated sludge method has been determined as well as the rate of their decay in the medium under test. The results were interpreted on the basis of the dependence of the pollution elimination rate of its supply, on the concentration of sludge. Carbaryl and Propoxur within the limits of their solubility in water did not influnce the biological purification expressed by the decrease of COD. They decayed very rapidly, resulting in the breakdown of 98.9-100% of that orginally present in the medium of activated sludge with a similar rate in both cases.
