The NATs: Nutrition Achievement Tests for the elementary grades.
1981
Fanslow Alyce M. | Brun Judy K. | Hausafus Cheryl
Three nutrition achievement tests for kindergarten through sixth grade were developed and field tested on a nationwide sample of 3,393 students who had previously received at least 8 hours of nutrition education. Test items were verified by nutrition and evaluation specialists and teachers to improve accuracy, appropriateness, and clarity. Items addressed these nutrition concepts: physiology, nutrients, food handling, life cycle, social/psychological aspects of food, food technology, and nutrition and society. Item analysis was conducted on each of the 2 prototype tests, from which final versions of the nutrition achievement tests were constructed. The tests are available through local affiliated Dairy Council units or directly from the National Dairy Council (6300 N. River Road, Rosemont, IL 60018). (nm).
