Two fresh market varieties cultivated in cold greenhouse without supports are compared. It is desired to ascertain whether mulching allows earlier ripening. The following factors are considered: flowering time and fruit-setting time; healthy fruits production; average weight of the fruits; discard of too small and "scalded" fruits; early ripening of the fruits. "Duke" variety seems better in terms of larger fruits, less discard and earlier ripening of fruits.
