Thai Supersweet Composite 1 DMR sweet corn were harvested at milk stage with and without the stem intact and stored at room temperature (25 deg. C.), 1 deg, 5 deg. and 10 deg. C. respectively. It was found that sweet corn with stem intact, stored at all tested temperature had the tendency to lose soluble solids and sucrose less than those without the stem intact. Sweet corn stored at 1 deg. and 5 deg. C. for 4-6 days had nearly the same levels of soluble solids and sucrose as fresly harvested sweet corn especially those with stem intact and stored at 1 deg. C. Sweet corn with stem intact and stored at 10 deg. C. for 4-8 days had sucrose content much more than those without the stem intact. All sweet corn with stem intact lost moisture content from the kernels to much more than those without the stem intact and caused the fresh kernels to wrinkle.
