The impact of chemical and biological acidifying substances upon the quality of egg shell and egg quality was studied. The experimental groups were fed by feed mixtures without the investigated additives supplementation, mixtures supplemented with acidifying preparation FARMACID and with probiotics LBC G 35. The total feed consumption from the beginning to the end of egg-laying period and daily egg production per one laying hen were not statistically influenced. Insignificantly higher feed consumption by 4 % per 1 kg of egg mass and per 1 egg was found in laying hens with Farmacid supplementation. The number of eggs laid and production of egg mass per 1 laying hen, as well as the average egg weight were not statistically significantly influenced by the preparations applied. Shell weight in the variant with Farmacid was by 5.3 % lower in comparision to control. In the variant with probiotics LBC G 35 application, the shell weight was by 4.1 % lower in comparison to the control. The shell thickness was also affected negatively by both chemical preparations and probiotics. The white index was lower in laying hens treated both with chemical preparation and probiotics in comparison group.
