Studies were made of aquatic mosses Fontinalis antipyretica L. and Platyhypnidium rusciforme (Neck.) Fleisch. affected by phenol and their ability to decompose it. The experiments were run on isolated fragments of gametophytes cultured under sterile conditions in various concentrations of phenol. Population of these mosses show ecological susceptibility to phenol. They are able to decompose it.
