Senescing of oat leaf segments in light was studied based on the rate of chlorophyll degradation. 5 repetitions were taken as an average and it was proved that even the lowest beta-indolylacetic acid (IAA) concentration used (i.e. 0.0008 %) caused a 109 % degradation of chlorophyll. The same concentration of Rastim tended to retard the degradation of chlorophyll, on average by 64 %. On the other hand, the cytokinin benzyladenine retarded chlorophyll degradation by 146 %.
