The Canary Island goat flocks were described as a population with three ethnical types in the International Symposium on Goat Management in Arid Zones, Fuerteventura (Spain) 1985. In this paper we try to determine differences with reference to the ethnical type Palmero Majorero and Tinerfeno in some milk parameters, total protein, casein, calcium and phosphorus. Samples were taken during six months after parturition of the milk of 72 dairy goats on first lactation from an experimental herd of the CITA, including females of the three types. All the animals were bred in the same conditions of nutrition management and health. We only found significative differences, along the lactation period between the Palmero type and the others (P < 0,05) for the total protein and casein. We conclude with mean values in percentage found for the gross protein and casein, and the mean values in g/1 found for calcium and phosphorus for the three ethnical types studied Palmera (4,38 +- 0,74; 3,51 +- 0,68; 1,49 +- 0,27; 1,07 +- 0,44). Majorera (3,93 +- 0,64; 3,09 +- 0,65, 1,35 +- 0,32 1,06 +- 0,63), Tinerfena (3,83 +- 0,56; 2,97 +- 0,54, 1,42 +- 0,29; 1,13 +- 0,77).
