In SR macedonia (SFRY) there are 5 main localities of the European chestnut that are suitable for beekeeping. They are situated by the main roads, so migration of bees is possible without larger difficulties. The localities are at different latitudes and altitudes. The phenophase of blooming of the European chestnut in separate localities is influenced by the vertical pluviometric gradient and latitude. Climatic conditions in the blooming phenophase are the most favourable, since there is no danger of late spring frosts. Regarding the blooming time in separate localities, two chestnut honey flows are possible, provided that the bees are moved from one locality to another for feeding The average yield of honey for all 4 localities is 12.27 kg. The average yield of pollen for all localities is 8.08 kg. Package apiculture gave the best results in exploitation of the European chestnut. The paper also describes physical and chemical properties of the obtained honey (specific weight, the dry matter and sugar percentages, the sugar composition (glucose, fructose, saccharose), acids and ash) and of the pollen.
