The article shows the complexity of roles of modern libraries or information centers in circumstances of growing amount of information, information technologies and information needs. Information professionals remain as an indispensable link between end-users, information media and sources. They are also increasingly involved in conveying new technologies to the end-users. Information dissemination, however important, is only a result of anterior organizing and generating information which is another important function of information professionals. By encouraging better editing they may also improve information value of published material.
