Urinary and serum concentrations of enrofloxacin were studied in 3 adults cats after subcutaneous and oral administration of 5 mg/kg of the injectable or tablet formulation. Mean urinary concentrations of 125-140 microgram/ml were maintained from 6 to 24 hrs after oral administration. After subcutaneous administration, the increase in concentration was rather slower than oral route, but showing a higher peak level of 217 microgram/ml at 12 hrs. The 48 hr-cumulative recovery rates were similar in both routes of administration. The serum concentration rapidly increased after oral administration reaching a high peak level of 2.9 microgram/ml. The under-curve area was 21.4 microgram.hr/ml and the half life was 5.9 hrs. The in vitro serum protein binding rate was 35.9%.
