Spacing trial of shallot (Allium ascalonicum), 5 x 20 cm., 7 x 20 cm., 10 x 20 cm., 12 x 20 cm. and 15 x 20 cm. were conducted. It was found that the spacing 5 x 20 cm. produced the highest fresh yield of 2,257 kg/rai and the wider spacings 7 x 20 cm., 10 x 20 cm., 12 x 20 cm., and 15 x 20 cm. produced lower yield. The spacing 15 x 20 produced the lowest fresh yield of 1,268 kg/rai. Comparison of dry weight yields gave the result that the spacing 5 x 20 cm. produced the highest dry weight yield of 1,246 kg/rai. The study on the number of daughter bulb per plant found that the spacing 5 x 20 cm. produced the smallest number of daughter bulbs, 6 bulbs per plant and the spacing 12 x 20 cm. produced a little more number of 7 bulbs per plant.
