A hot box type solar dryer (accelerator) developed by Lawand (1965) is designed to dry the banana (Musa sapientum Linn., a race). In the experiment it takes only 3 days in the accelerator to dry the fully riped banana with the soluble solid of 15-20 percent as compare to 5 days drying by primitive method. The accelerated sun-dried bananas are palatable and hygienic.
