Corotating-disk scraped-surface heat exchanger.
1985
Tadmor Z.
The design and performance of a novel co-rotating disk, scraped-surface heat exchanger is described. The main advantage of this heat exchanger is a very high surface-to-volume ratio and a high heat-transfer coefficient, compared to conventional scraped-surface heat exchangers. Both thin-film and full-chamber operation is possible with this design. Emphasis is placed on a thorough mathematical description (20 equations) of the operational behavior of the new exchanger. An appendix delineates mathematical deviations for the heat-transfer coefficient for semi-infinite and finite film thickness cases.(wz).
