This experiment was investigated to clarify influence of taking time and sectioning methods of cuttings on the rooting ability and to clarify relationship between rooting ability and changes in endogenous growth substances of grown in spring and summer during herbaceous cutting of Phlox paniculata L. cv. 'Rembrandt'. The rate of rooting during cutting period was quicker in spring than in summer and the activity of endogenous auxins and root-promoting substances gradually increased in cuttings with lower basal parts in summer, but cuttings of upper half parts did not increase.
