Gives a clear overview of the benefits which can derive from using goats to assist in the management and control of weeds in pastures. Many weed species unpalatable to sheep or cattle will be grazed by goats, often preferentially, placing the weed at a disadvantage and preventing seeding. Some shrub species are weakened by continued grazing, making them easier to control by conventional methods. Reduction in the use of chemicals for weed control is financially and ecologically desirable, and the added advantage of goats is the fact that they can return a profit in meat or fibre.
